"It's such a wonderful turnout on such a cruddy night," she said. "I just think there's a lot of people that just love 'Downton Abbey' right now, especially with the local connection."
"I love all the high society stuff and the historical fiction," she said.

They ranged in age from 15 to their 70s, and a few wore full length dresses and jewelry to match. While a handful came for the tea, the majority came because they are fans of the wildly popular television show, "Downton Abbey."

"In every country, it seems to have started as a very important drink for the rich and famous, until it steeped down to the masses," Fuller said.
4 teaspoons unsalted butter, softened
The Jan. 7 tea party was the brain child of Marci Mock, circulation manager at Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library. She'd won a bunch of "Downton Abbey" bookmarks for the library and figured that, with Fuller's help, a tea party would be a great way to distribute them.
Tea is an essential part of life on "Downton Abbey." Characters can often be seen conversing over a steaming cup of the drink either upstairs, while lounging on cushioned sofas, or in the dark, drab basement. Today, merchants are cashing in on the popularity of the show with "Downton Abbey" themed teas, cookbooks and more.
Paul Wallop, of Big Horn, is first cousins with the current owner of Highclere Castle. The Wyoming Wallops have visited the castle several times and Jean Wallop Herbert, Paul's aunt and the dowager countess of Carnarvon, often visits her home state of Wyoming, according to The Billings Gazette.

PBS aired the first episode of the new season Jan. 5 to a record breaking 10.2 million viewers, according to the public television station. One of those viewers was Wendy Gale, 36, of Sheridan, who attended the tea party in costume.
"I think out West, people haven't been exposed to it," Fuller said. "I think 'Downton Abbey' and a lot of Masterpiece Theater Programs have opened up the world of English life and people are more aware of it now."
Statewide ratings for "Downton Abbey" and other programs on Wyoming PBS are not available, but weekly viewership is up overall, according to General Manager Ruby Calvert.
"You can kind of say 'Downton Abbey' raises all boats," he said.
'Downton Abbey' raises tea's profile in Wyoming
Instructions: In a medium bowl, toss the watercress leaves with the salt. Spread one side of each piece of bread with butter. Top four of the slices each with 1/4 cup of watercress leaves. on half the slices, overlapping each round, and sprinkle them with ground white pepper. Top the sandwiches with the remaining bread. Pressing down firmly, cut the crusts off. Then cut the sandwiches into neat fingers, triangles or quarters of roughly equal size. Serve immediately.

"Mostly what you're drinking isn't tea, it's an herbal concoction," Fuller said.
All tea comes from a plant called Camellia sinensis: Green, black, oolong and white. Anything that doesn't come from Camellia sinensis, technically isn't tea at all.
Instructions: Cut the cucumber into slices as thin as you can make them and put it in a colander or sieve. Sprinkle it with salt, but don't go overboard. Let is sit for 20 minutes.
Katering in Sheridan, hosted the tea party to celebrate the premier of the show's fourth season.
Bake the scones at 375 F about 25 minutes or until they are browned. Cool for five minutes and serve warm or at room temperature. Before serving, add whipped cream and/or raspberry or strawberry jam. Either put the whipped cream on first and make a well in it for the jam, or put the jam on first and dollop the whipped cream on top.
